The PicCentric Portfolio

I received deliver of the D2Xs on 6/30/2006, basically the day after they were released from distribution channels. Unfortunately the camera NEF files were not compatible with the current version of Capture (4.4) so I was only able to evaluate the camera based on in-camera conversion to JPG which I found to be outstanding.

Since the release of the camera, Nikon Capture NX has been released in a trial version (7/7) with expected sales on 7/28, with this version of Capture I will be able to post-process NEFs. I hope that Nikon will continue to support the previous capture product for a period of time adding D2Xs NEF support and camera control for those who do not upgrade to the NX product, only time will tell.

All in all the camera is as expected, Nikon professional level build, ergonomics as found on the D2h that I'm already accustomed to and focus speed seems fast and spot on.

Worth the upgrade from a D2x? not sure about that with a F/W revision on the horizon but from a D2h or D200... absolutely!
